John has always enjoyed the wines of the Southern Rhône Valley, Châteauneuf-du Pape, in particular. He has always hoped to produce a wine of that style. That opportunity arose with the 2018 vintage.

Winemaking Notes We blended 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah to make the first vintage of School House Vineyard Mescolanza Châteauwoof-da-Pup. Roxy, our vineyard dog of 10 years, is portrayed on the label.
On September 28, 2016 we harvested nearly 3.5 tons of fruit from the Mescolanza Zinfandel block with a sugar/brix level of 23.8°. The three varieties that make up this field blend were, as always, picked and fermented together in open bins, and aged in seasoned barrels, providing an ever so subtle touch of oak.

Tasting Notes This lovely medium bodied wine shows aromas of wild strawberry, anise and white pepper, with beautiful minerality, energy and balance. We are very happy to be able to offer this unique wine to all of you. 140 cases produced
